LG Optimus LTE 2 with 2GB of RAM – Review and Features

LG Optimus LTE 2 – First Smartphone to offer 2 GB of RAM

While North American consumers will have to wait a little longer to get their hands on the sleek new device, LG has just launched the LG Optimus LTE 2 smartphone, with Korean customers slated to have access to the new phone shortly. The LG release pits the company’s offerings against Samsung, another popular Asian developer who has recently launched the Galaxy S III.

As the device is not yet available to the public, much of the information currently known about the LG Optimus LTE 2 has come from specs published directly by LG. Nevertheless, comparing that information to details about already released phones, experts are crafting a fairly strong image of what consumers can expect to see in the upcoming device.

Design :

One of the first points of critique for the new smartphone is the design of the device, which has been deemed excessively boxy by some. Instead of sleek angles sported by many other popular smartphones, hard right angles are the norm with the LG Optimus LTE 2.

Of course, design aesthetics and what appears attractive are a rather subjective topic. If current design trends are to be taken into consideration, it would certainly appear that this smartphone has differed from the norm.

Battery :

Perhaps one of the most impressive features included with the new phone is the 2,150mAh battery, which reportedly holds more than 40% more charge than its predecessor. This is battery life like most smartphone users have never before experienced, and could certainly give the new phone a leg up over its competition.

In addition to this impressive battery power, the phone reportedly has some wireless charging capacities. Although it has yet to be implemented as a standard feature in smartphones, wireless charging is certainly an expanding field. Should the phone in fact include this feature, it could help it to stand out in a crowded field of competitors.

2 GB RAM :

LG has also heralded the phone’s whopping 2 GB of RAM, placing the phone on par with some desktop computers. This amount of RAM is a first for any smartphone, and LG claims is should make the Android operating system upon which the phone runs more stable.

Regardless of how it ultimately affects the operating system, there is no question that consumers should be able to notice the difference when running applications on the device. A larger amount of RAM means multitasking and high-definition apps should run smoother than ever before.

Display & Interface :

Speaking of high-definition, the screen for the LG Optimus LTE 2 apparently has a True HD IPS display, although the manufacturer has been mum on the size. Based on guestimates from photographs and materials distributed by LG, most experts believe the screen will ultimately be anywhere from 4.3 to 4.5 inches in size.

This places the phone directly in competition with smaller tablet devices, and could potentially woo customers to LG who were previously using both a tablet device and a smartphone. Ultimately, this may be LG’s strategy in marketing the phone.

Availability :

According to the manufacturer, the Android-powered smartphone should be available on five different carriers in Korea by the end of the month. As for the North American market, there has been no official word as to whether or not the device will ever make its way to the United States.

Regardless of whether American buyers are allowed to purchase the phone, the impressive technical attributes of this device likely signal that competitors like Apple and Samsung will need to amp up their game to stay relevant in the ever-growing smartphone field.
