iOS 6 : Top 10 Supercool New Features Out of All

Apple has announced upgrade to its MacBook Pro and MacBook Air range of notebook computers with the launch of new models. It also took the wraps off its next generation operating systems, including Mountain Lion and the popular mobile OS iOS 6, at its 23rd annual developers’ conference WWDC (World Wide Developers Conference).

It will have 200 new supercool features that will take your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch in entirely new directions. Here are the Top 10 updated iOS 6 features out of all.

1. Siri


  •  Siri now is smart about sports, scores and stats. Ask about score for the Giants and she will reply that they were downed by the Rangers.
  • Siri is being integrated with Yelp and OpenTable. Now you can ask for a good restaurant your nearby and book your tables.
  • Siri is coming to the new iPad.
  • Siri will get hands-free integration in lots of in-car systems. If you are planning to buy a BMW, GM, Mercedes, Land Rover, Jaguar, Audi, Toyota, Chrysler or Honda—you will get integrate Siri in these cars.
  • Siri is also available in a slew of new languages adding Canadian French, Spanish for Spain, Mexico and the US.
  • Siri in iOS 6 will also integrate with Rotten Tomatoes for movie times and reviews. You can ask for a movie that stars your favorite star or director, and she will find them for you.

2. Facebook integration


After Twitter now Facebook is completely integrated with the iPhone. Now you can post a status update from Notification Center and upload images directly from the Photos albums. If you have your hands full, just ask Siri to post for you.

Even the location from Maps. It’s even integrated with Siri. And the Calendar application, So keep your friends’ information handy and never miss another birthday or get-together.

3. New Phone App Enhancements


This is a welcomed surprise. Apple has added a new mode that will make it easy for users to remind themselves to call or text-back later, if they can’t take a call right now. This feature is already in Nokia.

There is also a “Do Not Disturb” mode. It will turn off calls and messages at night. Messages will still come to your phone, but the screen won’t light up or make any noise.

4. Facetime


This is one for all 3G users. Look out Skype, You will be able to call someone using Facetime over the 3G network. Even better, if someone calls your phone, you will be able to answer on your iPad or Mac.

5. New Safari


Safari now saves web pages — not just links — in your Reading List, so you can catch up on your reading even when you can’t connect to the Internet. Another new feature is the ability to add “App Banners” to a website. This allows developers to easily show-off their native app.

6. Photo streams on iCloud


In the past, iCloud allowed you to upload photos constantly to your personal stream. Users can now share groups of photos to their friends over iCloud. Everyone will also be able to comment on them.

It’s like creating private Instagram feeds from the Photos app.

7. Mail


Fed up with all junk mails. iOS 6 brings a new VIP feature. Youcan mark people as VIPs, and their emails will automatically go into a special folder. So now you can easily read only those people whom you want to hear most.

8. Passbook


Another good one. It collects all of your loyalty cards, ticket information and other info into one neat place for easy access. It will allow you to have all your tickets and coupons—airplanes, train, movies, concerts, sport events, gift cards, loyalty cards, whatever—in a single wallet.

The fantastic part is it’s location-enabled so it knows what to show based on where you are.

9. Guided access on iOS 6


Apple is adding a new feature called Guide Access to iOS accessibility services. Guided Access helps students with disabilities such as autism remain on task and focused on content.

It allows a parent, teacher, or administrator to limit an iOS device to one app by disabling the Home button, as well as restrict touch input on certain areas of the screen.

10. New maps


Now say good bye to Google Maps. The new Apple Maps integrates with Yelp fully developed in house seems pretty insane. Apple is bringing turn-by-turn navigation to the iPhone. It’s vector-based and voiced by Siri.

You’ll also get details about incidents that are causing traffic jams, so you can tell if there’s a major accident ahead or just a temporary slowdown.

These are just some of the apps that come to mind that might get “sherlocked” by Apple’s new features on iOS 6.
